Well i haven't posted in a long time. And trust me, there's lot's of updates that could be posted, however, we have a 6 year old computer and it crashes several times a day. VERY FRUSTRATING. So, June 26, we will be celebrating 6 years of marriage and our gift to each other???.....a NEW COMPUTER. The only thing...do we get a laptop or not? Any suggestions or advice?
So, until the new computer, hold tight...i will update in a few weeks.

although i really like having a "real computer"... next time i would purchase a laptop. they're better on energy and you can take them anywhere... plus they take up a whole lot less room... i have no idea about the cost.
also, a while ago, we had a SUPER BAD virus on our computer (which a friend of ours ended up fixing... but he said it was the worst he's ever seen) and we were looking at new computers. a few people told us to buy mac... but our "computer friends" all told us to stay away from mac because they're just money grabs... they're not that superior, and you can't upgrade them like you could a pc... that was the gist that i got... but i was told they just weren't worth it and could be super frustrating in the end.
thanks Ali. I'm just worried that a laptop won't be as efficient...unless i want to spend more. i think we will stay away from Mac, we're not big computer people to benefit from having one. i think we will go to best buy..?? not sure.
you have to outweigh the benefits of both. Do you want it to be portable or sit on your desk. Portable's pretty convenient. Compare gig's of memory the computers have that you might be looking at, etc. Ask questions at Best Buy but don't necessarily get what the salesman is pushing - he may not necessarily have your best interest in mind. Ask yourself what's important to you in having a computer and then ask the salesmen which laptops or pc's have those things. Portability, memory space, built in features or programs that come with the computer. if you're happy with your screen, you can just get a new hard drive (tower) and new operating system and maybe save some money
i agree with jason.
make list of what u want in the computer and what u use it for.
if u use the computer on the road a lot when you are away from home, then a laptop might be your answer.
there is no reason to go for all the xtra features a salesperson wants to sell u if u don't need them. mom and i have been looking too and realize that a lot of the computer brands offer the same things - one of the things it boils down to is how many gigs you need for what you do - for example if you don't play videos games they need to know that and you don't need the power or programs to run them and you automatically save money.
there is actually now a computer that has the hard drive right in the monitor screen with a wireless mouse, a wireless keyboard and that's it - no wires. of course it may cost more but it does away with lots of wires and plugs. not every store has them though.
love dad
